Dunsmuir Reports on New Staking at Nanuq

December 6, 2004
Dunsmuir Ventures Ltd. (the “Company”) reports that on October 1, 2004 the Company staked some 51 mineral claims covering approximately 33,090 hectares (81,765 acres) immediately to the north of its Nanuq Project in Nunavut. This staking coincided with the expiration of the Ukkusiksalak Land Withdrawal Area (ULWA) on that date. Further to that staking, the Company reports that it has received a notice from the Mining Recorder in Iqaluit, Nunavut that the recent staking of claims on behalf of the Company by Aurora Geosciences Ltd. of Yellowknife, NT has been protested by Lawrence Barry. In a news release dated October 12, 2004, a competitor company announced that the Hunter Exploration Group staked, on their behalf, approximately 13,759 hectares (34,000 acres) also adjacent to the northern boundary of Nanuq.

The Company in its defence has now filed a Notice of Protest against the claims staked by Mr. Barry and the Hunter Exploration Group on the basis, inter alia, that the Barry stakers failed to comply with the Canada Mining Regulations in carrying out their staking, that not all of the lands staked by Barry’s stakers were staked prior to the Company’s claims, that the stakers occupied the ULWA area for staking purposes prior to the expiration of the Order in Council creating the Withdrawal Area and other factors to be determined on examination of the Barry’s stakers claim recording information.

The Company intends to vigorously defend the Notice of Protest filed against its claims and to pursue its Notice of Protest against the Barry staking.
