(“Peregrine”) (TSX: PGD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rod
Davey as Chief Operating Officer.
From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Davey was President of Diavik ™ Diamond Mines
Inc. where he was responsible for overseeing the preparation of all
documents including the engineering feasibility study, the Environmental
Impact Assessment, and local issues prior to the construction of
Canada’s second diamond mine.
Mr. Davey’s primary responsibility will be overseeing the preparation of
a Preliminary Technical Assessment Report on the DO-27/DO-18 kimberlite
pipes, WO Diamond Project, NWT, Canada. This report will investigate
all potential mining and processing scenarios for the pipes. The report
is anticipated to be completed after the incorporation of all the
results from the Fall 2006 / Winter 2007 bulk sampling and core drilling
Commenting on Mr. Davey’s appointment, Mr. Friedland, President of
Peregrine, said, “we are delighted that a person of Mr. Davey’s
experience and reputation will oversee the incorporation of over three
years’ worth of exploration results into a comprehensive Preliminary
Technical Assessment Report. Mr. Davey was instrumental in coordinating
the design and engineering of the successful Diavik™ Diamond Mine,
including the retaining dikes in Lac des Gras. Given his experience, we
believe Mr. Davey will be able to fully determine the best potential
mining scenario for the WO Diamond Project.”
Mr. Davey has a B.S. Mining Engineering from the University of Wisconsin
and a M.S. Mining Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
Mr. Davey began his career with Kennecott Corp. in 1964 and has held
many senior positions with that company and its subsidiaries including
Senior Vice President of Development for Diavik™, Vice President and
General Manager of Utah Copper Corporation, and Manager of Utah Copper
Corporation’s Bingham Canyon Mine. Mr. Davey is a member of the SME,
past President of the Utah Mining Association and past Member of the
Board of the Canadian Mining Association. He has numerous engineering
publications to his credit.
Alan Carter, the Chief Operating Officer of Peregrine since May 2004,
will continue on with the company in a Business Development capacity and
as a Director.
Peregrine is a well funded Canadian diamond exploration/development
company that is managed by experienced geoscientists. The company is
completing a Preliminary Technical Assessment Report on the 9 hectare
DO-27 and 3 hectare DO-18 diamondiferous kimberlite pipes, and is
exploring for other diamondiferous kimberlites on its extensive land
